8.2

Using the cases from Exercise 7.4 (Freydia, Thomas, and Rad), describe the methods you would use to evaluate the effectiveness of your work together. Address the; who, what, when, where, and how of evaluation.

Assessments can be used for the client to fill out with how they feel they are progressing with my treatment. Also looking at all the case details can be helpful. Keeping track of all progress is vital to ensure the proper treatment is still in use. The who would be the client, the what would be the assessment, the when would be the next available appointment, and the how would be done in a way that will not offend anyone..

Develop a number of hunches about the clients in the following vignettes. What is the basis of your hunch (theory, experience, knowledge about social conditions, or other factors)?

Leah is a 13-year-old runaway living on the streets with a group of three other teens. They show up at the food kitchen occasionally, where a counselor has talked with Leah about the possibility of coming back into school and maybe into foster care. Leah actually seems interested in school. She tells the counselor: “I might like to finish school. I was good at it, but there’s no way I’m living in another family. I’ve been on my own too long and I don’t want to take orders from anybody. Besides, my friends need me. We do okay.”

Hunch 1: Want’s to continue her education, but feels as though she will lose her independence.

Hunch 2: She has been independent for so long that she is only use to taking orders from herself.

Hunch 3: She feels as though she is lacking proper education that may help her succeed in her personal quest for complete independence.

Hunch 4: She may have experienced envents in her life to were she has no trust for parental supervison or assistance.
