Question 2: Does the case prove we can learn nothing from the business press?

No. This is because we still can grab some knowledge about organizational behavior from the case although there is inaccurate information. Those business press published by companies which install surveillance equipment were trying to spread out inaccurate information to mislead all people especially those people who are manager and businessmen. Now the global recession has brought to the forefront the challenges of working with and managing people during uncertain times.

In the global economy, jobs tend to shift from developed nations to countries where lower labor costs provide firms with a comparative advantage. During recession, effective management is always playing the important role in the management area. Anybody can run a company when business is booming because the effectiveness of management reflects the difference between making a lot of money and making a lot more money. When times are bad, managers are always on the front lines with employees who must be fired, who are asked to make do with less, and who worry about their futures. So the effectiveness of management can be the difference whether the companies making profit or loss, between survival and failure.

Based on chapter 1 that we learn from subject Managing People in Organization, we had known about the manager of the companies in the case study had using intuition approach to determine the happen of workplace malfeasance . Intuition approaches can be defined as a ‘gut feelings’, which is not necessarily supported by research. The example in the case such as manager affects employees indirectly by using the intuition approach wrongly. In our opinion, he or she emphasize inaccurate information which come from business press articles that state need to prevent happen of employee theft in the companies and then he or she starting to not believe their employees . This had proven those business press succeed to attack...
