For Better or Worse

“Momma, momma”; the sweet sound that echo’s behind my daughter’s room every morning as I start my day. I look over to my life partner; eyes closed, small smile upon her face, hair scattered throughout the bed, I smile, my life is complete because I have everything that completes me; regardless of what the law or bible states. Gay marriage; is it right or wrong? What does marriage really mean? What does family mean? Who really can be the judge of someone’s heart? I am a lesbian, I have a partner and we have a daughter and we are happy. Marriage should be allowed for everyone because it is a pure commitment based off of two people, not two people and the world.

The main arguments that arise from those whom appose gay marriage; Gay marriage is incompatible with Christianity and Gay marriage will end up infringing on religious freedom. Christians whom appose Gay marriage believe in what the bible states; “Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind; it is an abomination.” ("Israel's Holiness Code. Leviticus," 2005). I was driving down a road when I noticed a sign posted at a Church that really allowed me to see where Christians stand;

``Sec. 7. Definition of `marriage' and `spouse'

``In determining the meaning of any Act of Congress, or of any

ruling, regulation, or interpretation of the various administrative

bureaus and agencies of the United States, the word `marriage' means

only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife,

and the word `spouse' refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is

a husband or a wife.''. (Defense of Marriage Act, 1996)
