There are many sources of information available to employers to find qualified applicants. The types of information sources consist of:

Application forms

Online applications

Biographical Information Blanks

Background Investigations

Checking references

Honesty and Integrity Tests

Medical Examinations

Drug testing

Employment testing

These types of forms and tests will help managers further the employee selection process. The next steps of the selection process consists of interviews. There are many types of interviews.

There are many types of interview methods used by company's to fill job vacancies. These consist of:

Non directive interview- an interview in which the applicant is allowed the maximum amount of freedom in determining the course of the discussion. The reliability and validity of the non directive interview may be expected as minimal.

Structured interview- an interview in which a set of standardized questions having an established set of answers is used. This method provides to be a more consistent basis for evaluating job candidates.

Situational interview- an interview in which an applicant is given a hypothetical incident and asked how he or she would respond to it. This method provides company's with information about a candidates ability to think quick on their feet and their analytical skills.

Behavioral Description interview- an interview in which an applicant is asked questions about what he or she actually did in a given situation. This method assumes that past performance is the best predictor...
