Drug and alcohol abuse is a very big problem in the world today. Not only in teens, but in many adults as well. As with everything else in this world there are many good and bad things that come from something that takes many lives every year.

Alcohol abuse is a very big problem in our society today, but it also offers many Americans jobs. With many people becoming addicted to alcohol this market keeps many people worldwide employed. "1,585 breweries operated for some or all of 2009, the highest total since before Prohibition."(Brewers association, 2009 http://www.brewersassociation.org/pages/business-tools/craft-brewing-statistics/facts) With our bad economy today this gives millions of people a steady income to support their families. Being a young adult, I know how hard it is to find a job in today with our country being in a recession.

Not all alcohol industries are as high as ours in America. In Europe, alcohol companies are losing money. "The quarterly loss totaled $94.9 million, or $1.52 per share, compared with a loss of $82.3 million, or $1.76 per share last year."(Central European Distribution Reports 4Q Loss, 2008) This means that the number of people using alcohol is down, and that alcoholism isn't as big of an issue as it is in other parts of the world.

All in all, I know alcohol will always be an issue with people worldwide, but with that there will always be many opportunities for money to be made. Some people may not agree with the money or the industry, but as long as people consume alcohol it will be around.

  Even with the market high, alcohol still causes many problems. There are many facts that people overlook whether they are good or bad. There will always be cause and effect on both sides of abuse, whether it is from drugs or alcohol.
