There are numerous ways to define a hero, and everybody has a different opinion on it. A hero can be someone who exhibits courage, someone who is noble or self sacrificing, or a winner. A hero can save the day, or even save you from a tough situation that you may be put in whether it be life threatening or just putting you in a better mood. According to some of these descriptions, Hamlet could definitely be somebody who is viewed as a Greek hero. For his words and actions, he gives off the vibe and characteristics of one. As a hero, Hamlet didn’t immediately believe what the ghost said regarding his dads death. He took his time to search for evidence to prove that Claudius did indeed murder his father. He always looked to satisfy others wishes before his. As an example, he agreed to stay with his family and not leave for school in Wittenberg even though he would have rather been there instead. Hamlet always had a positive attitude about himself and was self confident, so he wasn’t concerned about what others thought about him. Hamlet is an ideal hero with a flaw, a flaw that sparks many questions among critics everywhere, these questions can be answered in a simple concentration of one scene. Hamlet is like a soldier that is thrown into a war where he has to do some things he rather would avoid doing, but under the given circumstances he bites his teeth and carries himself well. In this war, the circumstances brought on by Claudius's murdering of King Hamlet are Hamlet's enemy. The whole play would be very simple if this murder was an open assassination. But no, Shakespeare made sure that this murder was a secret that no one, except maybe Claudius, knew about it.
