Foxconn is primarily an original design manufacturer, and its clients include major American, European and Japanese electronics and information technology companies. Notable products which the company manufactures include the iPad, iPhone, iPod, Kindle, Play Station and Xbox 360. Foxconn has been involved in several controversies, most relating to how it manages employees in China, where it is the largest private-sector employer. Due to the high market demanding for these product, the workload of the workers are increasing as well, therefore the workers have to work well beyond the maximum overtime hours allowed by law.

A 27 years old Yan Li Foxconn worker died suddenly on after working night shift continuous without off in one month time. His family and colleagues were suspecting he was died from exhaustion due to overwork. According to his sister, Yan Li had no history of any medical ailments. He worked every night for the month prior to his death, well beyond the maximum overtime hours allowed by law. A police who investigated and concluded on May 30 ruled out homicide or suicide, and concluded that that Yan Li’s death was not a criminal case.

Besides that, three workers were killed and eighteen injured in an explosion at the Chengdu plant in May of 2011.  Earlier this year, 300 people at a plant that makes Xbox consoles threatened to kill themselves over a pay dispute. In June 2012, 1,000 workers at the Chengdu plant rioted in a dormitory for over two hours. 

I believe that Foxconn is showing it has no social responsibilities rather than to increasing its profits. Maximization the profit usually is the narrow view of the business. Therefore, Foxconn should remain socially independent and all conflicts must be solved through the individual responsibility concept.
