Assignment #4

There are numerous reasons why marriages are unsuccessful and result in a divorce. There is a 50% chance that marriages will last an expected lifetime, but being a part of the percentage where your marriage was successful means you and your partner out in countless amounts of effort in making sure your marriage was steady. One of the major factors that stuck out to me was marrying at the age of 25 and older rather than marrying at 18 or younger.

Getting married at 25 years of age or older decreases your risk of divorce by nearly half, or by 24%. I think that waiting those extra years for marriage is very essential. Waiting until the age of 25 and older helps you not only determine what type of girl you want to marry but also where one should live and where you want to work. It allows you to date different types of people which helps you eliminate what type person you don’t match with. It also gives you some time to get your financial situation together so that you aren’t fresh out of high school trying to move in together and getting a job and going to school to get your degree.

Getting married at 18 or younger doesn’t seem fit for you physically or mentally because you haven’t had that much time in the dating world and experienced that type of encounter. Your maturity level also ties in with this as well. The younger you are, more than likely you aren’t that mature and getting married at such a young age indicates that you’re not psychologically ready for what all a marriage has in store for you. A marriage will have it ups and downs and can be really stressful and damage you mentally for further instances down the road.
