It is not hard to recall life without the use of the internet, but who truly wants to go back to that? We have come a long way from the creation of Microsoft by billionaire Bill gates (Greenstein, 2008, p. 4) to the launch of Facebook by creator Mark Zuckerberg in 2004 (Anderson, et al., 2012, p. 23). Life without the internet now ceases to exist. With our advance technology today as well as our extremely busy lifestyle, many of our day to day businesses are conducted via the internet. From online shopping to dating and even locating friends and family throughout the world, the possibilities of what you can do through the internet just seems to be endless.
Yahoo and Google are two of the most talked about, well known internet search engines today. Both companies provide goods and service to the public worldwide each with their own mission and vision. A mission statement, developed by management for each organization outlines exactly what the mission of that particular organization is ( Certo & Certo,2012, p. 210). To formulate the organization mission statement the ideas and advice of associates, managers as well as nonmanagers are taken into consideration ( Certo & Certo, 2012, p. 210). This written document is provided to the organizations associates and the public, upon completion, to allow everyone to view and fully understand the ultimate goal that the organization is aiming to eventually accomplish (Certo & Certo, 2012, p.210). in other words, it defines the reason as to why the company was created in the first place.
Google’s mission statement, according to the company website, “is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful” (n.d.). According to Yahoo’s company website, the organizations mission statement is “focused on using the world’s daily habits...
