Abortion is it Right or is it wrong?

Abortion defined as “the termination of pregnancy and expulsion of an embryo or of a fetus that is incapable of survival” (About.com). However, if only the debate over the abortion issue was as simple as the definition provided above. Is Abortion right or is it wrong? There are different circumstances when it comes to abortion. If a woman gets raped or sexually molested then this could be a reason the woman would want to abort the baby. Why not consider adoption in this case. It is not the child’s fault or the woman’s fault she was raped. The killing of unborn fetuses is wrong then it should be forbidden in the United States and around the World. .

In the United States there were 1.21 million abortions performed in 2008, down from 1.31 million in 2000 (Guttmacher Institute, 2001). There are circumstances for a mother to abort and that is, the mother’s life is in danger, incest, or rape. On January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court legalized abortion.

With every abortion that occurs another inaudible scream from the unborn child occurs and the rights of that child are taken away. Abortion is murder; however, is the mother punished for aborting her unborn child? Is someone punished if they kill the child after it is born? Yes, the woman is punished for killing the child after it was born but why isn’t someone punished for killing the fetus? This is still wrong of a woman to abort a child. This problem of when life begins stems from the inconsistencies, which come for the case of Roe v. Wade (1973). The Supreme Court interrupted that by the ninth and fourteenth amendments that a woman has the right to an abortion. The court that day, however, did not rule when a life begins for a human. If society is to assume that a fetus is a human, the second it leaves the uterus, then what is the unborn baby three minutes from birth. When an unborn baby is aborted, society...
