Have you ever been in a situation where you felt bills weren’t going to stop rolling in, money was going to be less and less scarce, there weren’t enough hours in a day to finish your errands, or your career and family responsibilities were becoming to demanding? Have you ever felt as though you had no control over all that and it started to become overwhelming? If so, you may be experiencing what we all know as stress. In a survey done in 2004 by the American Psychological Association say that fifty-four percent of Americans are concerned about the level of stress in their everyday lives. Sixty-two percent of Americans say that work has a significant impact on their stress level and seventy-three percent of Americans name money as their number one factor that affects their stress level (APA, 2004). With stress, you actually have more control over it than you may think.

Taking charge of your life is a good way for managing stress. Having total control over your thoughts, your emotions, your schedule, your environment and the way you deal with problems in your life will allow you to deal with stress in an easier and more manageable manner. You always hear people say, “you only live your life the way you choose to”. Personally, I couldn’t agree more with that statement. Your ultimate goal in life should be to make sure you are living a well balanced one. We should always make sure we are able to manage our relationships, our work/career and relaxation and have fun while doing it all.

Stress isn’t something that only a particular group of people will go through. Stress can hit people of all ages and people with all different lifestyles. It becomes something that a lot of people allow to take over their lives. Knowing how to effectively...
