When you think of religion, what comes to your mind—a set of rules, regulations and obligations or a deep, intimate relationship with God? Or how someone is supposed to have a “relationship” with a being we have never met, cannot see, and have not heard. God communicates to us, through his written “word,” the Bible.

My relationship with God started when I was a child. I was raised in an Evangelical surrounding. God means everything to me, without Him there is nothing I can’t do. My God has provided me everything I have to this day. He’s the reason I wake up every morning and the air I breathe every second. Nothing is promised in life, not in this time of day and not in the past either. For example, if you think about it; at the end of the day when everyone turns their backs to you the only person that’s going to be there for you is God. God is the best friend we can have; I speak from what I have experienced these past fifteen years. I like to consider myself someone who has a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. I believe He died so we could have a living, vital relationship with God, not just a bunch of rules and regulations I’m forced to follow. Yes, there are certain guidelines God wants me to follow, but His purpose in giving them is to protect me from the consequences of sin.

When we have a real relationship with God through Christ, life gets exciting because He stirs up a passion inside us to love people—and we don't have to struggle to do the things He calls us to do. It just happens naturally. Likewise, there’s one thing I need to hear over and over again, it's this: God loves you. That's all. He may not like everything I do, but He's never going to stop loving me. I believe the greatest thing God wants to hear from us, it’s this: I love You, Lord. Thank You for everything you’ve done in my life. I want to do what's right. Keep teaching me. After I received Jesus Christ as my Savior; God has changed me into a brand-new creation. Living...
