Effects of Poverty on an individual 

Poverty is a condition in which people's basic needs for food, clothing, as well as protection are not fulfilled. By definition, there are two types of poverty: relative and absolute poverty. Absolute poverty happens when people do not have sufficient resources to minimally support their basic level of physical health. ( ). In contrast, relative poverty is when people do not meet, a certain level of standards determines by a government, and it varies from one country to another. Relative poverty happens everywhere and it on the increase. Relative poverty is a phenomenon that probably will never be eradicated. ( ). There is not a clear definition of poverty. It is a concept that is a complicated and multifaceted. For this paper, the term 'poverty' is used to mean lack of access to basic resources such as clean water, sanitation food and education. There are over 1.2 billion people on earth living in absolute poverty. According to World Health Organization the term 'absolute poverty' refers to a population that lives below $1 (U.S) a day. ( ). Poverty affects one life and cause many illnesses. At some point during adulthood, poverty will touch the majority of Americans. 60 percent of 20 year olds in America will experience poverty at some point during their adult years and by the age 65 half of adults will experience poverty ( ). Over 1.2 billion people - one in every five on Earth - live on less than $1 (U.S) a day.

As a result, their health becomes problematic because of not eating healthy. In addition, people living in poverty often do not have enough money to go for doctor check-ups. Consequently, poverty can cause lack of employment. Lack of employment can affect someone’s life in every ways. Being unemployed can be very difficult even though a person can get help from government and church but it is not enough for to cover most of their needs.
