LETTER OF ADVICE Letter of Advice Dear Michael and Michelle, I was so thrilled to hear the wonderful news about your recent engagement. I want to extend my congratulations; I am humbled that you both ask for advice on how to effectively use interpersonal communication in your relationship that would lead to a long happy marriage. Having taken an interpersonal communication course, I have learned several concepts coupled with my own life experiences that have strengthen my interpersonal communication in my marriage of thirty-four year and would be happy to share it with you throughout this letter. From birth we begin communication, as we grow and mature so does our ability to communicate. Communication is important in developing a healthy relationship. We communicate every day and learning how to effectively do so will strengthen your relationships both personally and professionally. Some key concepts of interpersonal communication such as understanding the barriers to communication, recognizing how words create and affect ones attitudes, understand different communication styles passive, assertive, aggressive and passiveaggressive and realize the impact that gender and cultured have on interpersonal communication. You will also need to understand how perceptions, emotions, and nonverbal cues can affect your relationship when you obtain this knowledge you will have effectively gain

the necessary to tools tackle the misconceptions in communication. Resulting in a productive and healthier relationship you will gain by understanding the concepts of these few basic skills. Additionally practicing what you learn on a daily bases can help you with the challenges most couples experience through communication. One of the most important elements of communication in any relationship is the having the ability to listen.
