ROTC Reaction Paper

A family that will be treasured forever...

We started our 2nd term together with a bang! More intense trainings to perfect our drill moves, more snappiness to outshine those competitors, more discipline and determination to overcome the whole day competition under the sun and do not forget the bonding times. Hell Day, described as the worst ROTC training day ever because we get to prove to ourselves, to our officer and to our fellow cadets that we are worthy to be part of the long tradition of cadets of the Model Battalion. Indeed, our usual 50 counts of exercises doubled and what’s worse is that we did it under the scorching heat of the sun at the uneven soccer field of the Navy. All that “suffering” became nothing when we receive our Model patches. Afterwards in celebration of our achieved milestone, Frolics were held, its purpose is to showcase the different talents of each battalion and the officers too! We had a good time watching the presentations and it was a night to remember. A closing remark was given by Sir Areno and his words boosted our spirit and at the same time saddened our hearts. I realized that there are only a few weeks left before the AGTI and the graduation. Little did I know that, the best is yet to come. We were constantly reminded that AGTI is coming and that we must prepare ourselves to defend our championship title. Whole day trainings where now held in Bonifacio Naval Station where the AGTI will take place. Despite the burnt skin, callused hands and tired body, increased “dying” rates, and constant absences of our batch mates we didn’t lose hope. Although we were “pasaways” during our trainings, we became snappy and serious on the competition itself, we made it sure that our minds our focused and on the goal. Our determination and skills was tested as we stood up for 2 hours. Many of our batch mates bogged down and we became disheartened but Sir Santos reminded us, “Model, puso...
