Americans are Fat and Lazy; But Free

Americans are fat. Not only are Americas fat, they are lazy. It is sad to say that the country given to us by the Greatest Generation has gotten fat and lazy. This is a good explanation of what happened in the 2012 election. Lazy Americans voted to continue to have a Socialist nanny continue to control their lives. When it comes to obesity many of the so-called experts have their opinions that they spout as fact. It is the fast-food industry, it is social media, it is a host of several other things other than the fact that people choose to be fat or they are too lazy to do anything about it. Now the charge to tax and regulate what we eat is being led by the Socialist these lazy Americans voted into office. The question that we as the non-lazy, non-obese need to ask is, “Does the government have the right regulate what we eat, and what we feed our children?” Our government has no place in the regulation of our dietary intake; we are free to make our own choices and deal with the consequences of those choices. Our country was founded on the principle of freedom of choice. Obesity is as inherent a problem in our country as our governments’ problem with wanting to be our nanny; we as Americans have the right to be fat just as long as we are willing to solely bear the consequences of our decisions.   

The health care bill passed by President Obama in 2010 required that all fast food chains with more than 20 stores make their products nutritional information available for their customers. (Luster, 2013) This is extremely helpful for those who thought that a Big Mac was as nutritional as spinach. Unfortunately there is no requirement that their customers be literate. If a person did not already know that fast food was bad for you there is a good chance that they lack the basic intellect to read a calorie chart.
