In the media worksheet we were asked “What were the major developments in the evolution of mass media during the 20th century? The answer to this question could be a number of advancements in technology and how it produced a means of getting information to numerous people at one time. The definition of mass media is basically reaching a massive number of people and communicating information. Some of the media used for mass media are forms that have been around for over a hundred years. The forms of mass media are, radio, newspapers, magazines, books, video games, and the internet were people use chat sites, blogs, and social networking to reach mass media. For example, I remember being kid and hearing the radio being played with all the songs that were popular at the time. Now we have the evolution of satellite radio which allows not only you deciding what you want to listen to, but commercial free and any where you go you can hear the same station. Long gone are the days of driving out of range and needing to find a new station of what you would like to hear. Another evolution I will discuss is the evolution of digital books. Use to you would have to go to the book store and buy the book you wanted to read. Now, with the use of the internet, you just log on to your nook and download the book that you would like to read. These are some evolutions in mass media that has taken place.

The second question was “How did each development influence American culture”? The answer is that not only did these advancements help our society; I feel that it has also hurt our society in a few ways. First example, it’s great that we can get information any time and any were. We can access the internet and conduct research on any topic or find plans to build any and everything.
