In this research paper I will assess the Virtual Organization of Huffman Trucking. I will describe an information system critical to the business processes of the organization. I will include in my description how this information system has an effect on the organizational structure of Huffman Trucking.

Huffman Trucking’s information system heavily relies on a network of servers to store company data. This network is not only accessed by company employees but also by customers. The use of this network and servers being accessed by both employees and customers is a key component in the business process of Huffman Trucking. Huffman Trucking has four facilities; Cleveland, Ohio, Los Angeles, California, St. Louis, Missouri, and Bayonne, New Jersey. All four of these facilities include data servers that link them to the network in Cleveland, Ohio.

This network is of extreme importance to Huffman trucking and its stockholders, employees, customers, and stakeholders. This network of servers allows customers to create new accounts, log in to their account, view and alter account information, make payments, and track orders. These servers also contain information pertinent to the Huffman Trucking business processes such as customer data, employee data, company data, tractor and trailer data, preventative maintenance data, and company purchases and sales.

The importance of Huffman Trucking’s information systems is that it is 100% outsourced, meaning companies outside of Huffman Trucking have been employed to handle this network of servers as its information system. Since this information system is 100% outsourced it is critical that the information system is kept up and running, current, and secure.
