Huffman Trucking Critical Information Systems

Introduction

Huffman Trucking Company is a national trucking company that has facilities in Cleveland, Ohio, Los Angeles, California, St. Louis, Missouri, and Bayonne, New Jersey. Founded in 1936 by K. Huffman and began with a single tractor trailer in Cleveland, Ohio. Today Huffman Trucking owns and operates 800 road tractors, 2,100 45’ trailers, and 260 “roll-on/roll-off” units. They employee 925 drivers and 425 support personnel. Some of the primary customers include the U.S Government, automotive parts suppliers to major manufacturers, electronic consumer products, raw materials (polymer) for manufacturing of plastic products, and any customer requiring special accommodations, such as wine, computers, munitions, etc. (Apollo Group, Inc., 2005 facts). This paper will explain the information system that is critical to the success of the business processes at Huffman Trucking.

Mission

Huffman Trucking’s mission is to be a profitable, growing, adaptive company in an intensively competitive logistical services business environment (Apollo Group, Inc., 2005 our company). To meet that goal Huffman needs to have an information system in place that can handle their business needs and can easily adapt to the changing needs of the business. To stay ahead of the competition Huffman needs to make sure they are always on the lookout for new technology to give them agility and speed needed to stay at the top of logistical services.

Business Process
