Kudler Fine Foods is a well-known upscale specialty food store in the San Diego County regions of La Jolla, Encinitas, and Del Mar. Kathy Kudler, entrepreneur and owner of all three locations of Kudler Fine Foods, set out to provide her customers with the highest quality ingredients in the most explicit consumer environment possible (Apollo, 2011, Strategic Plan). Therefore, in 1998 she established Kudler Fine Foods, which consist of many imported and domestic products. The vast selection of fresh meats, specialty dairy products, cheeses, wines, and fresh produce are consistent with the magnitude of passion, quality, and desire within every cooking experience (Apollo, 2011, Strategic Plan). At this time, direct competition is not considered to be a threat in the Southern California area. Below is the requested evaluation of Kudler strengths and weaknesses, market structures, competitive strategies, and recommendations to maximize profits.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The 2012 survey results indicate slight improvement in most areas over the 2011 results. Reflection of the Kudler 2012 market survey indicates over 80% of those responding believe the shopping atmosphere is the food markets most powerful customer draw (Apollo, 2011, Market Surveys). Attractive merchandise displays add to the appeal and store hours peaked at 88.57% satisfaction (Apollo, 2011, Market Surveys). A positive first impression will create built-in word of mouth advertising to enhance prosperity.

The survey weak spot remains the same in the category of merchandise sold is a good value for the money according to both annual surveys.
