In the business world today, cultures affect the behavior of the employees, also different communication with employees can affect how the employee understands what the goals and values of the company has in place. Southwest Airlines is the world's largest low-cost carriers. The airline established in 1967, headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The airline adopted Southwest name in 1971. As of August 2012, the airline employs more than 46,000 and operates more than 3,400 flights daily. "Southwest mission is dedicated to the highest quality of Customer Service; delivered with a sense of warmth, friendliness, individual pride, and company spirit" (Southwest, 2013, p. 1).
Culture
The culture at Southwest is happy employees equal happy customers. Southwest has fun events such as "Halloween, deck, and spirit parties that keep the employees motivated and make it worthwhile to work hard to keep the customers happy" (Southwest, 2013, p. 1). The values of work hard, be courageous, persevere, and innovate, embracing the Southwest Airlines way is enacted everyday through Southwest employees. Southwest provides customized training at the university for people (Southwest, 2013). The training delivers personal, professional, and leadership to the employees of Southwest (Southwest, 2013).
Southwest believes communication is very important in their industry. Failed communication could cost lives for Southwest. In the airline industry, every employee must have the proper credentials, the proper training, along with any changes that could affect the safety of him or her as well as the customers. Southwest listens to their customers to find the likes and dislikes of its customers. Southwest is determined to make the customers flying experience enjoyable and relaxing.
