Decision-Making Process Paper

The largest personal decision I have made in my life was my decision to relocate from Wisconsin to Florida. I had secure employment of 19 years and majority of my family in Wisconsin; however, I had come to a point in my life when I felt the need for a change in my life and, it had to be for me and no one else. Staying where I was and making life changes was not the solution I was looking for.

My goal was set to relocate anywhere; however, I was not going to move without obtaining employment. The first thing I did after I established my goal was to determine the pros and cons of relocating to another state and what would be the consequences of moving. Knowing and understanding the consequences as well as the pros out-weighing the cons I began making my plans with how to make this happen. The plans I had made were to establish how I was financially going to relocate, locate employment, what to do with the dogs, tell my family and significant other, find housing, termination of current employment, what I needed to move, and a great deal of prayer. When I had located employment my plans began to streamline to make this transition. With my mom already in Florida, she could assist with locating housing, wrote a letter of offer to my current employer, wrote my letter of resignation, notified friends, and family, and started downsizing my belongings and packing, finding help loading the truck and seeing my son and me off.

After residing in Florida for two years, I think this was the best decision I could have ever made. Yes, the consequences do come back to haunt periodically such as missing family and friends, my son missing his father, sister, and snow as well as the inability to travel back home for visits. However, I am a much happier person who returned to school to continue bettering my life.
