The world is in a crisis, one that is going to have extreme consequences if it’s not solved in the near future. The world is hungry for energy, clean energy and is beginning to that is efficient, safe, reliable, and environmental friendly.. It is a waste since we already have a reliable, safe, and effective way to produce energy; nuclear power.

Many people are caught up with the downside of nuclear energy, like the danger of accidents and the radioactive waste. Although there are risks with nuclear energy, there are many more benefits that outweigh the dangers.

To start, nuclear energy has an extremely small environmental footprint. In the article “Nuclear Energy is the Best Way to Address Global Warming”, there is strong contention that nuclear energy is the way of the future for its promising environmental footprint. First, it compares nuclear energy to the dangers of coal stating that coal is a huge problem because of its waste, releasing one hundred times more radioactive material than an equivalent nuclear reactor. Not only is it that much more radioactive material, but the material isn’t placed in a safely guarded storage site, it goes straight into the air. From the many toxins released into the air by coal, pollutants released from coal 15,000 premature deaths happen per year.

The largest source of carbon dioxide emissions globally is the combustion of fossil fuels like coal, gas, and oil in power plants, automobiles, industrial facilities and other sources according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Electricity generation is the largest source of carbon dioxide emissions carrying forty percent of all emissions.

Nuclear energy produces about one fifth of the United States electricity and makes up for seventy percent of carbon emission free sources of energy. They also state that the volume of greenhouse emissions prevented by nuclear energy is equivalent to taking 92 percent of all passenger cars off America’s roadways. Also, each year...
