Introduction

As Acme Home Improvements has expanded its business activities to Mexico City and as a venture that is pursuing the increase of its profits and performance, there is a need for it to develop and implement an information system (IS) that will allow Acme to have an efficient grasp on all the business activities in which it might be involved. The purpose of the proposed IS plan for Acme is to enable and support Acme’s business goals in order to create value for all stakeholders.

To achieve that, the proposed ISM if properly implemented will help the company better manage its workforce and every aspect of its operations effectively and efficiently. That is, the ISM plan to be implemented is intended to all appropriate information technology (IT) tools to streamline Acme’s planning, hiring and training, budgeting, marketing planning and sales. This will use a combination of available IS platforms to coordinate and manage all functions of the venture in order to better understand the competition on the market and realize the needed link between performance and profitability.

Finally, this plan is detailing the why and how IT could be used within Acme, a plan that will address the following points: purpose, objectives, stakeholder group information requirements, overview of information system design, other environment policies, security policy, training required, maintenance and future improvements of the system and planning budget.

Conclusion

The introduction of the balanced scorecard and key performance indicators that are central to this Acme ISM plan is design to emphasize financial performance as one of the key indicators of a firm's success and help link strategic goals to performance and provide timely, useful information to facilitate strategic and operational control decisions.
