The following report is designed to analyze the information systems at LaPlaya Beach Resort located on the Gulf of Mexico in Naples, Florida. LaPlaya is a $25 million resort that is part of 13 properties owned and/or managed by a corporation known as Noble House. Headquartering in Seattle, Washington, Noble House has properties throughout the nation including Washington state, Rhode Island, Texas, Florida, Colorado and California. Having a corporation so spread out across the nation, it is easy to understand why a sound information system infrastructure is vitally important to corporate success.

LaPlaya employs over 300 hundred people servicing 189 rooms, beachside service, three elegant pools, and an award winning restaurant that is open to the public. The operation is truly a dynamic atmosphere that relies heavily on the coordination of the leadership team, and thus depends on the effectiveness of the information infrastructure.

In addition to normal resort operations, LaPlaya also features one distinct oddity that is not common in the resort industry. Located in the resort is a private 300 member country club. The club provides an elegant private dining room to its membership, as well as beach and pool access (normally only available to resort guests), as well as an award winning golf course located just 2.8 miles inland.
