Checkpoint Observation

Week 1

I cannot say that I have used any of these scientific processes for myself other than to understand my teenage daughter. I notice I use unsystematic observation when she is telling about something that is going in her life, at school, that she feels she needs to talk about. Listening to her and trying to understand how she is going to react emotional is a large part of the observation. This way I will know how I may need to react to her when I am asked for a response.

Building theories is another I noticed I have used while dealing with my daughter. Understanding what the reason behind her coming home with an attitude and taking it out on the family is part of building theories. I do not know what has happened during the day at school, so I have decided on a theory until she is ready to tell me the reasoning. This way I can better help her to come to a resolution concerning her problem.

Now evaluating propositions is the biggest, when dealing with my daughter. With her being a teen it seems harder to see through what she is telling me and deciding whether what she is telling me is the truth or not. I have found but listening to other parents hat have teenagers, that some like to exaggerate what is really going on, sort of blowing it out of proportion. So determining the real truth is a must.
