What are values and ethics? Values are thoughts and morals one believes to be true and accurate. One follows them throughout ones life. Ethics are thoughts that take into account when it comes down to good versus bad; doing the right or bad action. Both of these drive from family, work, church, and friends. Also, these are important when applied at work. Every company will most likely have an ethics code in place to be followed. Not abiding could lead to consequences with one's career. Following them well is important to your career as well. Repercussion such as termination is likely when ethics breaches occur.

  When it comes to professionals values, where would one obtain the foundation to this? There are three sources that can be identified; Family, Church, and Friends. Your family is the most important. Your Parents are supposed to give you the grounds of values; what morals to abide by and so on. For example, they tell you not to steal and cheat because it is wrong. You follow that in your life and pass it along to your kids. In church, one learns to help out your community in any way possible. The church promotes donating clothes, food, and money for the community so the less fortunate can benefit. As for friends, you can you can get your other important values from them besides your parents. These friendships are valuable in the future for personal sanity. What can a friend bring to the table for values? A good shoulder to cry one is one great example. Having that one person to help you bring back up when you are down is essential. Where there are values, ethics are the actions from the values.

Where are ethical actions enforced and recognized? One important source would be the workplace. This one is important to follow since it is your source of income to pay your bills and feed your kids. Usually a company has an Employee Handbook to guide them....
