I have been going to eat at Applebee’s since I was young, although it is not my favorite restaurant, I do occasionally enjoy it. When I first came to St. Louis I enjoyed going out to dinner with my husband, but I hate waiting in long lines just to eat. We drove by Applebee’s and there wasn’t a very long wait so we stopped. I remember getting the 2 for $20 special, which is great, but by the time we got our food the smell of the restaurant had made me lose my appetite. I am going to evaluate Applebee’s food, service and cleanliness based on my experiences and views of others.

Applebee’s Menu is broad. They have many different options from appetizers all the way to deserts and alcoholic drinks, along with a special Wight Watchers section, which most reviewers love. Setting the menu to accept all different kinds of people is a great tactic to get more people in the doors. The menu is descriptive so the food you order is mostly what you get. Many people, including me, agree that the portion size is too small compared to the cost. At another competitive restaurant of the same caliber, the portion size would double and be about the same cost. According to some people the food is very bland and by the time it reaches the table it is almost always room temperature or colder. I have had my fair share of good and bad food at Applebee’s, although there is still a small disappointment over the quality of the food.

The service at Applebee’s is either lacking in comfort or over the top. I always seem to walk in at the wrong time I guess. I have had servers from Applebee’s almost completely ignore me, and I have had servers that have used terms of endearment that were excessive. The service in general is usually slow, and it seems to me that the servers just take out their mood on the customers.
