The City of Kelsey founded in 1932 by, M. Kelsey who quickly determined that the fertile landscape with lakes and glorious mountain peaks was the perfect place to raise a family and tend farmland. As the visionary for this piece of heaven M. Kelsey determined that Kelsey’s natural resources needed to be preserved while building a community that had a sense of closeness and community spirit. Kelsey’s history ties around its agricultural resources and self-sufficiency. The community of Kelsey focused on using a high level of earth friendly maintenance to produce organic gardens full of fruits and vegetables. This approach to green living and protecting the environment with continued wellness has helped to establish Kelsey with nationwide visibility.

The City of Kelsey has had significant population growth over the past decade and ranked first among cities and towns in the Northwest Valley area. With the increase of the population growth for the area city administrators took action to enhance the parks and recreations area to accommodate the recreational needs of the community. City Administrators have worked with the Park and Recreation Department to develop the Stanly Park Plan, which will include new recreational amenities for the community’s daily use and special requests needs.

This new planned park keeps in line with the philosophy of Kelsey in that all aspects of the Park protect the existing landscape, provide adequate water use and protect against air pollutants. City administrators along with the parks and recreation department have agreed upon the need for a water use analysis, and air quality needs analysis.
