Courtesies Between Men and Women

The traditional courtesies between men and women have been changing throughout time. It is clear that the personal opinions of a human being choose how he or she reacts to another human being’s actions. There is different etiquette that men and women are adapting into so that traditional courtesies are not being used. Therefore, the traditional courtesies between men and women are changing for the worse.

There are many differences in the way that men and women act upon courtesies. If a man opens a door for a woman, women these days react in either two ways: The lady can thank the man for opening it for her or the lady can just walk through with a disgusted look on her face. Many women appreciate a man who does traditional courtesies for them such as opening the door for them, but there are a good amount of women who judge traditional courtesies as rude or disrespectful such as opening the door or giving them their seat. Traditional courtesies are acts of kindness and society now is changing that.

Usually when I open a door for a woman or a young lady, she smiles, thanks me, and casually walks through. This usually happens with women older than me. Through recent experiences after I moved out of my hometown for college, I realized that it isn’t the same everywhere you go. I was taught to always open the door for one another, but some girls became really disgusted and ungrateful when I did them this favor. They either did not thank me or gave me an unpleasant look. This usually happens on my college campus. This shows that our society is changing for the worse through these traditional, every day courtesies.

Many men and women today take these courtesies as a sign of no respect simply because there traditional courtesies have not been happening between the two genders.
