Dear Mr. Dennis,
It has come to my attention that you have been accused of plagiarizing a large portion of a paper written for English 221 (ENGL 221). After review of this assignment, I find that you failed to correctly cite your source. Your source was found to be a Federal Aviation Administration research report dated August, 21 2010.
As you should know, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has strict rules against plagiarism. You may refer to Embry-Riddle University’s plagiarism policy which is summarized in the “start here” section of every World Wide Campus (on line) class. Plagiarism is defined as :

* Copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit
* Failing to put a quotation in quotation marks or indenting on the page as required for longer quotes, and failing to give appropriate credit
* Giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation
* Changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit
* Submitting previous coursework (violates policies concerning the expectation of originality)
* Copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not (see “ fair use rules” at Plagiarism.org)
As stated in the university’s policy, “ignorance of scholarly procedures” is not acknowledged as a defense. In accordance with university policy, you will be given a failure for ENGL 221. You may retake this course during a later term. Also in accordance with university policy, you have been placed on academic probation. Any further violation of university policy will result in your expulsion.
You have 30 days to appeal this decision. At the end of 30 days, your grade of F will stand, as will your probationary...
