Integrative Leadership Analysis

* The purpose of this paper is to analyze my leadership style, identify my strengths and weakness and show how I can apply the concepts and theories learned in the business leadership course to become an effective leader.

* There are different styles of leadership for example; you have some leaders who focus on specific detail; ones who focus on specific detail but impact on people; others who focus on people and the big picture; and leaders who focus on the big picture as well but mainly on the logical and rational implications (Ostwald, 2009). Some people are quick to identify themselves as leaders, but they lack leadership qualities. I believe the best qualities of a leader are honesty, trust worthiness, positive, effective listeners, attentive, and understandable. Not all leaders have those attributes; that doesn’t mean that they are not a profound leader it’s just that everyone differs, and has their own strengths and weaknesses. According to Ostwald, “true effective leaders listen more than they speak. The very best leaders are known more for their listening abilities and less for their speaking abilities. When leaders communicate supportively, they help others grow and become better people” (Ostwald, 2009).

* A leadership role is determined by the culture of an organization and a person’s life style. After completing my personality assessment I discovered that my leadership style is NF, which describes leaders who prefer intuition and thinking. We also tend to focus on the big picture, and its specific impact on people. I think describes me well because I always analyze what the outcome may be.
