Institutional Grant Memorandum of Understanding University of Phoenix Thinking Ahead Grant Effective between July 1, 2012, and June 30, 2013 2012-2013 Award Year
The following information outlines the eligibility requirements and the conditions for the University of Phoenix Thinking Ahead need-based grant. The grant applies up to $1,500 per academic year to unmet direct costs of a bachelor’s degree program. Unmet direct costs are tuition and electronic course materials fees not met by federal and state financial aid.
Eligibility Requirements
(1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) Be a first-time University of Phoenix student enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program with the first course beginning on or after July 1, 2012, or a current University of Phoenix student who has maintained continuous attendance since enrolling in a bachelor’s degree program with the first course beginning on or after July 1, 2008. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and have an Institutional Student Information Record on file at University of Phoenix Have an expected family contribution of $12,500 or less Have a minimum of $200 need Avoid breaks in attendance greater than 14 consecutive days during the enrolled program without an approved leave of a bsence Are not employees or family members of employees of Apollo Group, Inc., University of Phoenix, Western International University, Institute for Professional Development or any other subsidiary of Apollo Group, Inc.
Grant Award Expectations
(1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) Grant award is determined by calculating federal grants and loans at maximum award amount eligibility, regardless of amount borrowed, to determine unmet direct costs. All student financial aid (federal, state and private) will be applied to tuition and electronic course materials fees first, followed by award amounts for the grant.
