Week One Case Assignment

Chapter One

[Question One]. According to the textbook, Black’s employees should be able to have business mastery, in order to know the business thoroughly. This in itself requires an understanding of customers and the economy. They must have good interpersonal skills and understand performance, and team development. They should have the skills to develop trust in the eyes of the people (p 31). There is also the challenges that they should be able to respond strategically to whatever changes happen in the Marketplace, set and achieve Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Goals, Advance Human Resource Management with technology, contain costs, respond to challenges, and adapt to any changes in the Workplace, along with knowing when to say no (ch 1). An HRM must be able to also set boundaries in the company.

[Question Two]. There were quite a few outcomes of the company’s new HR strategy. They were able to recognize the value of Black’s actions, and grew to appreciate the nature of the employer/employee relationship.
