Decisions in Paradise part II

The island of Kava is a beautiful destination but has many problems that need resolving. As we have discussed earlier, Chris Morales, the founder of our company has given Alex and I the task of creating a bigger presence in the island of Kava. Chris believes that we need to give back to the island that has given us so much. Also most important, the government in Kava has asked us to step up our presence here to help pass along our culture.

For this assignment we have decided to use the brainstorming technique to help solve the problem of expanding our presence in Kava. Brainstorming is “Brainstorming combines a relaxed, informal approach to problem-solving with lateral thinking. It asks that people come up with ideas and thoughts that can at first seem to be a bit crazy. The idea here is that some of these ideas can be crafted into original, creative solutions to the problem you're trying to solve, while others can spark still more ideas. This approach aims to get people unstuck, by "jolting" them out of their normal ways of thinking” (http://www.mindtools.com/brainstm.html)We need to work closely with the Kava government and the local companies to figure out the best way to solve the problems of the island that will prevent us from moving forward.

Brainstorming involves a group of people gathering together and bouncing ideas off each other. There should be no thinking that there will be any judgments, the point is to get as many ideas out as possible to see if together we can come up with a solution for what we are trying to accomplish. To be successful, the group must be willing to throw out any idea and have no one look at it negatively. This is not a competition. Even a crazy idea may have a bit of the answer that we are looking for and lead us down the path to finding our ultimate solution.
