As nurses we are thought to think of ways we can improve our patient health, way we can improve nurse patient relationship and so forth. In this article the author talks about how we can use humor to help us communicate with our patients. We can use humor to help us get the messages to people, help patient feel at ease while communicating with us. Using humor in the nursing can help patient open up and share their concern with the nurse or health care professionals.

The author gives an example of how teachers can use humor to help students understand materials being thought to them and relate it to everyday life situations. When the lesson is very complicated teaches need to use humors that is appropriate and relate to the material being taught at the time to help students retain the information very well. In order for teacher to use humor that students will help students understand the material, teachers need to prepare, they need to do some research and make sure the humor is simple and easy enough for students to understand, laugh and use it to retain the subject in question.

Nurses are encouraged to use humor as long as it doesn’t offend or discriminate against anyone’s culture, race, ethnic, and as long as the humor is not degrading, sexist, or culturally inappropriate. Using humor is beneficial in many ways, it helps us connect with on another and it also helps us feel comfortable with one another. The article also states that when humor is used appropriately it can help us avoid conflict on a personal level and on a professional level as well.
