Week 11

Scarred – A Child’s Scars

It’s very sad to see children living their lives in fear of things that they can’t even understand. They didn’t cause any war and they didn’t hurt anyone yet their families and neighbors are being killed on a daily basis. It is not fair that they have to lose so much on a daily basis because of something that has nothing to do with them. I can’t imagine the nightmares these children must have. How can you go to sleep every night hearing bombs drop and people dying? I don’t know if I could ever fall asleep knowing that there is a good chance that I won’t wake up.

Isolated and Insecure – Calling Syria

It’s not uncommon to see people who feel their phone is very important to them. The reasons for this however are vastly different from place to place. Most people in America value their phones because it allows them to gossip and play games. Most Americans phone usage is unnecessary and frivolous. In Syria, they use their phones to call their family, to make sure their loved ones are still alive. To ask how much of their homes have been destroyed. They use their phones to answer possibly life changing questions.

Children at work – Daily Bread

I hate that there are so many places in this world where children aren’t allowed to be children. Besides school, there is no reason in my mind why a child have to wake up before 8am. Children need time to learn and play and grow. I think that it is great that the people of his village help him to keep a job but as a child I don’t feel that he should be responsible for putting food on the table for his family. Soon enough he will have his own family to support. He should be able to live his life as a child while he still has the opportunity.

Fractured Families-

As much as it sucks that these children are put in these situations, at least they have each other. Difficult times are made more difficult when you have to deal with them alone. All of those children are dealing with the...
