Costco Wholesale opened its doors in Seattle, WA in 1983. It became the first business to go from 0 - $3 billion in sales in less than 6 years. Costco mission is “To continually provide our members with quality goods and service at the lowest possible prices” (“Costco”,2015). Costco strives to achieve this mission by conducting its business by a Code of Ethics, which is their replacement of a vision statement. Their Code of Ethics consists of obeying the law, taking care of their members, taking care of their employees, and respecting their suppliers. Accomplishing all of this will mean that they have reached their ultimate goal of rewarding their shareholders.

Costco Wholesale provides the community with a broad selection of products and services. Besides selling bulk products at low prices it offers customers tech support, pharmaceutical services, hearing aid services, optical services, photo services, travel services, insurance and so much more. Costco can be the go to store for most of the services and products that consumers need and want. Continuing to add services and products will further increase the growth of the company.

New Service: Business Courses

The proposal for the new division for Costco is a Business Courses for its business customers. This division will provide courses for current small business customers and for those who have begun the start-up process for a small business. The courses will be a mixture of instructor led on site, online, and at own pace self-help. Courses will assist new business owners with legal forms, taxes, payroll, inventory, customer relations, marketing, and other aspects of running a business.
