Lucy, like all moms, is very protective of her two daughters. Whenever she is not with them, she is always thinking about them, hoping that they are safe. Lucy wants to give Katie a bear so that no matter where she goes, she will always be with her.

Katie is more of the wild child and she always going on adventures, She needs a companion.

Katie’s bear will be her lifelong friend, a friend who will be there for her no matter what, a friend that make her feel safe at night when she tries to go to sleep,a friend that protects her from the monsters under her bed, and most importantly a friend that she can always talk to.

Children often anthropomorphize objects, they look at them like if they have feelings.

For example, think about Calvin and Hobbes, the story of a boy and his stuffed toy tiger, Calvin has all these crazy adventures with Hobbes and they have so much fun together. But Calvin knows that Hobbes is not real, however they are best friends.

WHY LUCY WOULD want THIS —> to create a life long friend with Katie so that she can be with her on all her little adventures and no matter where she goes.

Build-a-bear to Katie is like “hobbes is to calvin”, an unbreakable and lifelong friendship
