Best and Worst Communicators

There are good and bad communicators in the world, but when people communicate with each other, misunderstandings and conflicts are expected. In a business atmosphere, both misunderstandings and conflicts can lead to serious problems. People are seldom to appreciate misunderstandings and conflicts and a majority of people will go out of their way to avoid dealing with either one. However, if a person in a business organization ignores, avoids, or dismisses the misunderstandings or conflicts it could cause more problems for the organization.

There are communicators that are the best at avoiding misunderstandings and conflicts by providing clarity and conciseness. When good communicators deliver the message in a way that is easy to understand misunderstandings could be avoidable. Conciseness could also help in preventing any misinterpretation of a message. If there is no clarity in the message errors could be made because the person on the other end may have misunderstood the message. Practicing professionalism in conveying a message would help with any misunderstandings and conflicts as well. Communicators should always try to avoid misunderstandings by using a clear, concise business style, and following expected communication formats. Good communicators cut to the chase and understand the value of conciseness.

Actively listening is a big part of communicating well. Actively listening is an effort to understand what the person is telling you. When we do not listen and then respond to the person conveying the message inappropriately it can make that person feel irrelevant and ignored. When good communicators actively listen and respond appropriately it can make the exchange more enjoyable for you and the other person or people. Being a good listener is more important than being a good reader.
