Role of Citizen

When the founding forefathers created the U.S. Constitution, they had in mind a government that was for the people. In order for the government to be for the people, the people must participate in government. Each citizen has a role to fulfil, and when that role is fulfilled, the government will work for the people. It is a give and receive process that keeps this democratic government running. It started with ideas from brilliant people to a written document all the way to a full blown successful government.

The role of each citizen all started when brilliant political minds met in Pennsylvania to organize a written government. On September 17th, 1787, the U.S. Constitution was adopted and then later ratified by each state convention. This document was a compromise from many other documents and government ideas to create one of the greatest governments to date. This government has the ability to adapt to changing environments and to endure. In the Constitution there consists of different parts, starting with the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights states all the rights that each citizen has, starting with our everyday rights. After that is the amendments that involve court situations. Finally comes the power citizens are granted that the neither federal nor state governments are allowed. With the Bill or Rights come some of our powers to regulate the government. Other parts of the constitution allow it to adapt to changing environments allowing the constitution to endure. The amendment process is one of those adaptations. It allows the government and interest groups to create amendments onto the existing amendments, if changing times require it.

There is a role each citizen must fulfil in order for the government to be successful, and it is simply participate in government.
