Ethics Interview Analysis

German Marrero currently works in the San Diego County Probation office and JoAnn Martinez is a Lebanon County Correctional officer in the state of Pennsylvania. German Marrero was chosen for this interview because although he recently began his career with the county of San Diego, he possesses a plethora of experience ranging from security officer, armed and unarmed, to loss prevention for department store chains, and now is gaining experience in the probation field with the county of San Diego. In contrast, JoAnn Martinez was employed in other career fields before she chose to pursue a career as a correctional officer and does not have the extensive experience that Mr. Marrero has; however, she has been employed with the Lebanon County Correctional Facility for 18 months. Both individuals currently are practicing professionals in the field of criminal justice; however, they both bring different opinions and a different outlook about ethics in criminal justice. The information gathered from each of them coupled with the knowledge gained from this class allowed for the opportunity to incorporate real world experience with some of the law enforcement ideologies allowed for an opportunity to learn about ethical issues within two distinct careers in the criminal justice field.

Character and ethics is an important in the field of criminal justice for various reasons but some of the biggest reasons that both aspects can directly affect a professional individuals career, both positively and negatively.
