Most businesses should engage in e-commerce on the Internet. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Explain your position.

I don’t believe certain businesses can be competitive without e-commerce. Especially with retail, customers want the online option. A company without the online option might looses customers. With everyone so “busy” now it’s is almost the first choice.

What are the critical success factors for retail e-Business startups?

One of the most critical success factor is the value and selection of your merchandise. Some other factors of online businesses include the look of your website, it has to entice people, security and reliability. Another success factor with online businesses or traditional companies is communication and advertisement. Customers should also be able to use paypal to complete transactions.

If you were starting an e-commerce Web store, which of the business requirements summarized in Figure 9.13 would you primarily do yourself, and which would you outsource to a Web development or hosting company? Why?

If I were starting my own e-company, I would outsource the design/ build aspect. I would do the marketing myself. I believe that to market effectively you have to be close to your customers or target customers. I would outsource the build part, just to make sure it’s done right.

Are the form and use of information and decision support systems for managers and business professionals changing and expanding? Why or why not? And has the growth of self directed teams to manage work in organizations changed the need for strategic, tactical, and operational decision making in business?

I don’t think they hav changed that much. Strategic, tactical and operational decision making are carried out regardless of how work is completed. Technology has changed the way work is completed, self-directed teams have new and innovative ways to accomplish their tasks.
