Meet Brandon, a twenty six year old male who is roughly six foot tall and weighs around two hundred eighty pounds. Brandon is a smoker of eight years, drinks occasionally and gets little to no exercise other than the daily routine he performs as a delivery driver. Brandon has a poor diet with plenty of stressors added in. Being overweight has begun to cause Brandon health issues along with smoking and a lack of the right kinds of physical activity. Brandon takes notice to these symptoms and decides to make some changes in his life. The company he is employed by has a few great health benefits offered through their wellness program. Taking the initiative to improve his health, Brandon does some research. He speaks with his human resources personnel, who informs him of the various program the company offers, explains why wellness in the workplace is so important and speaks with him about the impact the programs may have on the stress in his life along with other illnesses that may be affecting him.

The first thing that Penny, the head of human resources discusses with Brandon is her role in the company. She explains that it is her job in the workplace to do administration duties such as wage and salary administration, management and organizational tasks, record keeping and statistics logs as well as benchmarking and testing re employee performance, business performance, setting company goals and handling business issues, employee contracts, conditions and disputes. Among the various tasks that Penny achieves are also industrial relations, intra-company communications, personal support, recruitment, training, risk management and employee terminations.
