Compare and Contrast - Formal Party or Informal Picnic

Having an organization’s holiday party is an occasion for managers, supervisors and employees to come together, dine, have fun and enjoy a day away from work places. If asks what and where to celebrate the gathering, I would recommend an informal picnic with families and dogs than doing a formal sit-down dinner with just employees. There are similarities between the two; however, I preferred the first one being informal and able to do more fun activities.

Regardless of a formal or informal holiday activity, all employees will be present because it is organized for them to have fun. This is a time when everyone is there without thinking about completing a job, meeting a deadline, or attending a meeting. This is an annual holiday event where money is allocated either coming from the company’s budget, fund-raising, or employees’ contribution to cover the cost of food, decorations and others.

I do not support having a formal sit-down dinner with just the employees because of many reasons and limitations than an informal one. First, as a family man, I feel something is missing when I am having a holiday party with just my fellow employees. I believed that holiday gatherings like this needs to be celebrated with friends, families, and significant others like dogs. Formal-type of gathering with just employees may limit the discussions to work-related issues, and I do not want to discuss work when having a party. Second, this may be limited for employees only yet it may cost more because of the venue and the prescribed outfit. Formal festivity requires formal attire and observes in expensive hotels or restaurants. Finally, formal venue limits the activities I can do than being...
