Decisions In Paradise Part 1

There is a place in the South Pacific that was once considered a paradise. This small island is called Kava. This island is no longer a paradise because it has been destroyed by various natural disasters such as are tidal waves, tsunamis, typhoons, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, volcanic eruptions, and earthquakes. This country has also been affected by numerous environmental disasters such as fires, diseases, petroleum spills, as well as terrorism from inside and outside the country. Kava currently does not have the resources to obtain enough medical care, which in turn the people of Kava are dying faster with more diseases. These forces and formulations are of an enormous risk and threaten the island of Kava as there is already limited amount of resources on the island and poverty is a huge factor. Innovating new techniques and tools to create a better presence of Kava is difficult when an area like Kava has consistent natural disasters and lack of medical attention. ProPac, Inc. is a company that is partnered with the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army that is ready and willing to assist in the recovery and rebuilding of this fallen country. “Disaster preparedness and response is the focus of this business. It has been that way since day one. The product line has grown tremendously, and Propac, Inc. is the largest supplier to Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) around the country,” (Propac, Inc., 2010). To accomplish this major project, a larger presence on Kava must be provided.

Alex, the director of strategic planning, was sent in advance to get the layout of the land, and as much information on the situation as possible, as well as setting up shop. The report that was returned consisted of information concerning that over half of the population was under the age of 15 and there is a variety of ethnic backgrounds on the island, which means there are several different languages spoken.
