3rd Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival

Introduction

Among the three exhibitions held in October, our group joined the 3rd Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival which is organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. The event takes place at the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade from 27 to 30 October 2011 and our group attended the first day of the event.

Transportation

The Wine and Dine Festival provides free shuttle bus service from Kowloon and Tsim Sha Tsui/Tsim Sha Tsui East station to the venue. There are notices along Exit K of Tsim Sha Tsui/Tsim Sha Tsui East station to guide visitors to the shuttle bus station. Although it took us around 30 minutes to get on the shuttle bus, it is acceptable since large crowd is expected for first day of the event. Since the event emphasis on “if you drink, don’t drive”, this arrangement is really considerate. Visitors can also take Taxi or drive their own cars to the venue. There is a car park located in the venue, so visitors can park their cars there.

Entrance

The main entrance of the festival is located next to the drop off area of the shuttle bus. There is a cashier selling the wine pass or wine token. Therefore visitors can easily take off the shuttle bus, buy the wine token from the cashier and enter the festival through the main entrance. There are three more cashiers in the venue which make it more convenient for visitors to buy token without going back to the main entrance.

Number and Size of Exhibit Spaces

The exhibition venue is separated into 4 areas with over 200 booths offering fine wine and food for tasting. For classic wine booth, it is 9 sq. m. while that for classic food booth is 15 sq. m. Most of the booths are standard booth or corner booth.

Booth numbering

Sequential numbering is used as booths are located in a particularly long aisle. This can make the visitors easier to find the booth that they wish to visit by just following the number.
