Communicating for Distance Education

Part 1: A message to my family, and a letter to the insurance company.

Hi Mom, how’s everything going at home? I’m a little rattled today because I was just in an accident. It wasn’t a major accident but it was enough to frighten me. I’m nervous because I’ve never had an accident and everything happened so fast. I was opening my car door and out of nowhere a car driving past knocked the door off. Besides being rattled I’m also mad. I checked my side view mirrors before opening my door as I always do and no cars were coming. Then boom next thing I know my door is being knocked off. The worst part is determining who is right and who is wrong.

Dear All State,

I was recently in a car accident and wanted to file an insurance claim. I was parked sitting in my car ready to get out. I looked through my driver side view mirror and allowed the cars to past by before I exited my car. When everything was clear to exit I opened my car door and another car came by so quickly and hit my door causing it to detach from my car. I immediately called the police and reported the accident. I have the police report as well as the case number. Please contact me as soon as possible. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank You,

Stephanie Battle
