Introduction

This document is the recommendations for a disaster recovery plan for XYZ located at 3251 Alligator Drive, New Orleans, Louisiana 70112.

The following changes to the XYZ network are below and represent the recommended steps to take in order to provide the maximum amount of security and disaster preparedness for the XYZ network. These recommended changes are divided into two categories the Physical and the Logical.

Physical

1. The purchase of three servers one will replace the water damaged server and will be relocated to an unused office on the second story of the XYZ building in order to protect the server from future floods.

2. A duplicate server for use as a backup to the primary server this duplicate will not be connected or used unless the primary server is damaged, this duplicate server will be kept in a secure location on the second floor of the XYZ building.

3. The implementation of the third server for the purpose of company email in order to remove the email from the server containing mission-critical records payroll and HR this step will provide a more secure logical environment for mission-critical records.

4. Add a second internet access gateway.

5. The purchase and implementation of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) for all AC powered items in the network. Servers, switches and hubs, modem, and all work stations should be equipped with a UPS.

6. The network switches, hubs and modem used by the company should be located above the potential flood line, preferably in the same room upstairs with the servers.

7. All information on the network should be documented and published in hard copy and softcopy. Hardcopies should be distributed to the company owner, IT staff and to all managers.
