Purpose of DRP

A disaster recovery plan is a written contingency plan for responding to a disaster which has disrupted the data processing facilities. Its purpose is to provide a general based upon pre planned actions which will reduce decisions making during the recovery process and enable reassumptions of normal operations in the most effective manner.

The two main objectives of this DRP are to perform a detailed risk analysis of KOSR’s current office operations. Using the risk analysis to create a list of key recommendations to be implemented before the disaster recovery plan can be created.

A disaster recovery plan is important because it describes how a business/ organization are to deal with disasters. A disaster recovery plan consists of the precautions taken so that the effects of a disaster will be minimized and the organization will be able to either maintain or quickly resume mission-critical functions.

KOSR requires a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) tailored to their specific needs and environment. Jesse the manager has indicated that the business does not have the available capital to purchase a whole lot of new equipment, so wherever possible the DRP needs to work with existing hardware and software.

The DRP developed will only cover the office / IT side of the Spit Roast Business.
